Toronto Maple Leafs restricted free agent goaltender Ilya Samsonov will have his hearing on Friday, July 21st, but it appears that both could come to an agreement before that date.
During the DFO Podcast, Frank Seravalli mentioned that both sides aren't too far off on a new contract.
The 26-year-old is looking for a pay raise on the $1.8 million he earned last season, with sources suggesting that he could be seeking for as much as $4-$5 million AAV.
Samsonov, a native of Magnitogorsk, Russia had a record of 27-10-5 with a 2.33 goals against average, a .919 save percentage and four shutouts in 42 games for the Maple Leafs last season.
Frank Seravalli on DFO Podcast regarding arbitration hearings: «I don't think the Leafs and Samsonov's camp are that far off. I feel like this was one of those hey, you file for arbitration and that will give us a bit more flexibility later.»#LeafsForever Joseph Zita (@josephdzita) July 10, 2023
