The Mega Millions Lottery Friday night's draw has hit an astronomical amount of $1.28 Billion. No matter who you are that is a life-changing amount of money to any person. So it was suspicious when the New York Islanders announced that they had bought $50,000 worth of tickets. But it turns out it's a new promotion along with a corporate sponsor to help out other people and children.
The New York Islanders announced that they have partnered with Jackpocket, the leading third-party app in the U.S. providing a secure way to order official state lottery tickets, to order $50,000 in Mega Millions lottery tickets on behalf of all Full Season Ticket Members, suite holders, staff, and the Islanders Children's Foundation ("Islanders Group").
The Islanders placed their order, totaling 25,000 tickets, on the Jackpocket app for today's estimated $1.28 billion drawing, the second biggest prize in Mega Millions history.
The team will distribute net winnings among the Islanders Group or, if below $250,000 donate the full amount to the Islanders Children's Foundation.
If the Islanders win the full lottery prize, the winnings will be split between Full Season Ticket Members, suite holders, staff, and the Islanders Children's Foundation. Additionally, even if they don't win the big prize, if any of the ticket winnings total less than $250,000 all of it will go to the Islanders Children's Foundation.
This is a great move to try and attract some new season ticket holders. Even if they don't win the big prize, the Children's Foundation should see some money after this weekend.
