The Chicago Blackhawks were one of the best teams of the past 20 years. The Hawks won 3 Stanley Cups in a 6 year span and were modern day dynasty. Unfortunately for Blackhawk's fans those days are long gone. Blackhawks General Manager, Kyle Davidson has made it known he's cleaning house and he has a 5 year plan before being competitive again.
That plan didn't sit well with Jonathan Toews, who has voiced his displeasure with the franchise's direction and has also hinted he wants to be traded. Toews has been rumoured to be heading back to Canada to play for his hometown of Winnipeg. However, if that is going to happen, Winnipeg Jets General Manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff is going to have to clear space trading to make it happen.
According to Credit:NHL Trade Rumors , Toews has drawn interest from other destinations as well. Reportedly the Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers both have interest.
As for the 34-year-old Toews, he's in the final year of his current contract that pays him a salary of $10,500,000 million dollars. Toews was drafted by the Blackhawks 3rd overall in 2006, and has played in 1,014 games, scoring 357 goals, and 495 assists, with a +179 career rating.
Toews is definitely going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer when he retires, representing and winning numerous medals with Team Canada, as well as three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks.
