The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has made yet another shocking decision.
On Wednesday, they announced on X that Arizona Coyotes forward Jason Zucker will have a hearing for boarding/interference on Florida Panthers forward Nick Cousins on Tuesday night. While the hearing was expected, it's pretty shocking, given the incident, that Zucker wasn't summoned for an in-person hearing.
The incident occurred during the second period of Tuesday night's game between the Coyotes and Panthers. With the puck gone, Zucker comes in a delivers a dangerous hit to Cousins, hitting him from behind into the boards.
Cousins' teammate Gustav Forsling came to his defence and dropped the mitts with Jason Zucker. Zucker was handed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding, along with a five-minute major for fighting. As for Forsling, he was given a two-minute minor for instigating, a five-minute major for fighting and a ten minute misconduct.
