In the second period of Saturday night's game between the Carolina Hurricanes and St. Louis Blues, a fight broke out. After Derek Stepan was hit awkwardly and then Jesperi Kotkaniemi stepped up for his teammate.
In just his second career fight Jesperi Kotkaniemi took on the Blues' Alexi Toropchenko. After Toropchenko had hit Derek Stepan and Stepan looked hurt, Kotkaniemi came in to make Toropchenko pay.
They were both given 5 minutes for fighting, but Kotkaniemi was given an extra 10 minute misconduct for instigating. It was all worth it as the Hurricanes won 7-2.
