Joe Thornton lands brand new job to continue his hockey career days after retiring as a player
When a pro hockey player's career comes to an end it can be a hard task finding your next passion. A hockey player dedicates his whole life to the craft and when its finally time to stop the anxious feeling of being lost can creep in.
44 year old Joe Thornton officially retired from the NHL on Saturday releasing his video through the San Jose Sharks. Thornton hadn't played since the 2021-22 season with Florida.
Thornton didn't wait long for his next opportunity.
Per TSN's Darren Dreger Thornton will take on a position with Team Canada at the Spengler Cup this year. Thornton will be in a management role helping build the roster.
Thornton joins ex NHLers Shane Doan and Brent Seabrook who have also gained some experience in international management roles.
