The career season continues for the Colorado Avalanche's Nazem Kadri. Just eight days after participating in his first NHL All-Star Game, Kadri notched his 62nd point of the season at 11:51 of the first period when he scored his 20th goal to put the Avs up 2-0 against the Dallas Stars.
Kadri finds himself fourth in League scoring, just behind Edmonton's dynamic duo of Leon Draisaitl (65) and Connor McDavid (63) and Florida's Jonathan Huberdeau (64).
As TSN's Chris Johnston pointed out on Twitter, what's perhaps most remarkable about the feat is how quickly Kadri was able to achieve it.
The timing of this breakout season could not be better for Kadri, as he is playing out the final year of his current contract which pays him an AAV of $4.5M, a number which is certain to increase based on the leverage which this season's incredible offensive output gives him.
While Colorado are likely to do all that they can to extend Kadri, his name has already been linked to a few other potential suitors, including the Philadelphia Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens. It's interesting to note that his new agent, Darren Ferris, worked alongside Kent Hughes at Quartexx Management. Hughes was hired as the Habs GM earlier this season.
