Leon Draisaitl could face supplemental discipline after boarding Anders Lee
Last night Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl received a boarding penalty in a 3-0 loss to the New York Islanders. Draisaitl hit Ander Lee in the corner boards and received a two minute penalty on the play. Anders Lee had his back turned towards Draisaitl as he was pursuing the puck in the corner.
Draisaitl hit Lee whose head and neck hit the corner boards awkwardly. Thankfully Lee was okay and was not severely injured on the play. The play had the potential for a serious injury.
Draisaitl is not known as a dirty player in the league and has not been a repeat offender. However, Draisaitl needs to be a bit more carefully and responsible particularly when a player has his back turned to him. There was no serious injury on the play and that is why the referees only called a two minute penalty.
