According to Aarif Deen of Mile High Sports, long-time National Hockey League forward and two-time Stanley Cup champion Darren Helm is reportedly retiring at the age of 36.

Helm, a native of St. Andrews, Manitoba began his NHL journey after being selected 132nd overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2005 Entry Draft.

He would go on to play parts of 14 seasons with the Red Wings beginning in the 2007-08 season, winning the Stanley Cup in his rookie year. In July 2021, Helm became an unrestricted free agent after not re-signing with the Red Wings and inked a contract with the Colorado Avalanche, where he spent the final two seasons of his NHL career, winning his second Stanley Cup last summer.

In 823 career games in the NHL, Helm had 266 points (119 goals, 147 assists), 256 penalty minutes and was a minus-19. He also added 26 points in 103 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Congratulations to Darren Helm on a great career in the NHL and all the best in retirement!
