This would certainly be a shock, and would ruffle more than a few feathers. Two star players with separate Canadian team is rumoured are rumoured to want to play with Connor Bedard as soon as possible.

On the latest Edition of Spittin Chiclets' "Game Notes" with Colby Armstrong and Matt Murley, it was said that Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks, who is a restricted free agent at the end of this season unless he signs an extension before then, wants to join the Chicago Blackhawks.

"Do not be surprised if you see Elias Pettersson try to make his way to the Chicago Blackhawks to be with Bedard next year.

I can see him out of there (Vancouver), and what a spot to go to. And that's a team (Chicago) that has the cap space, right?"

It was also said that William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who is unrestricted at the end of this season without an extension, also wants to make the move to the Blackhawks.

"Nylander, too. There's been a lot of talk of Nylander going to Chicago as well. That's part of it, too."

The Blackhawks would be crazy not to try to make this work. Adding Pettersson and Nylander to a lineup with Bedard and other young up-and-comers would be absolutely massive for a team in the midst of a rebuild. Pettersson would be the hardest to get as it would have to be via a trade of some sort. Nylander is free to sign anywhere at the end of this season if the Maple Leafs can't get something done before then. Nylander may choose to test the market as well.
