Mitch Marner speaks for the first time since being robbed at gun point
After the Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated from the post season, Mitch Marner tried to go out and enjoy some time to himself. Unfortunately for Marner that night he and a friend were held at gunpoint at a local Toronto cinema.
The unfortunate robbery made Marner unavailable for the Maple Leafs year end media availability but today he issued the following statement:
To all the fans, my friends and teammates, and the entire Maple Leafs organization thank you for all your positive messages over the last few days. The overwhelming support I've felt from the Toronto community has been unbelievable.
I'd also like to thank Toronto Police Services for all their hard work in the ongoing investigation.
It was a scary situation to be in, but we're safe and doing well. Thank you all - your support has meant the world to us.
- Mitch
The investigation appears to still be open at this time but it is great to here that Marner is doing well after this traumatic event.
