Montreal Canadiens top prospect Juraj Slafkovsky finds himself demoted again
In an attempt to jump start his team last night, head coach Martin St. Louis demoted Jaraj Slafkovsky to the fourth line. Sadly for the Canadiens the move did not pay off as they lost 5-2 to the lowly Anaheim Ducks. It has been an up and down season for Slavkovsky so far. You still have to remember he is a young rookie trying to find consistency to his game at the highest level.
St. Louis went on to explain he was trying to generate a spark amongst his team. That was the reason for the demotion. Slafkovsky has found himself moved around throughout the lineup this year as he learns what it takes to be an NHL regular. Slafkovksy is still going to develop into a fine hockey player for the Canadiens. These are just some of the growing pains along the way.
In twenty five games played, Slafkovsky has four goals and six assists which is respectable considering he is still just nineteen years old. Slafkovsky needs to shake off last night's demotion and put it behind him. He needs to continue to learn what it takes to be a regular skater in the lineup for the Canadiens.
