Winnipeg Jets forwards, steps up and drops the gloves to defend injured teammate
During last nights 2-1 win overall the Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets' defenceman Nate Schmidt was injured after receiving a big hit by Nashville Predator's forward, Tanner Jeannot. Jeannot laid the hit on Schmidt behind the Jet's net. Schmidt would eventually make it to the bench under his own power, but would not return.
There was no penalty called on the hi, but on the ensuing faceoff, the Jets' Adam Lowry challenged Jeannot to a spirited bout.
Jets head coach Rick Bowness confirmed after the game that Schmidt was placed into concussion protocol and was not cleared to return. He did not have an update on the severity of the injury.
The 25 year old Jeannot is no stranger to laying the body. He's laid 109 hits in 28 games this season, good for 4th in the NHL. The hit looked like a clean one from Jeannot, it's unfortunate that Schmidt was injured as a result.
