The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes concluded their series yesterday with the Hurricanes winning and advancing to the 2nd round. But before the NHL coule completely close the door on the series, NHL Player Safety has issued multiple fines from Game 7.

Boston's Charlie McAvoy has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Tripping Carolina's Brady Skjei.

Carolina's Brendan Smith has been fined $2,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for Elbowing Boston's David Pastrnak.

Both the Smith elbow and McAvoy trip went uncalled on the ice. But it's difficult to take a system seriously that fines someone more for a trip than they so for a headshot.

This is just another example of the continued failures of both NHL DoPS and the officials on the ice who missed both these calls.
