Last night the Calgary Flames took on the Columbus Blue Jackets and with seconds remaining in the game, Rasmus Andersson made an incredibly dirty hit out of clear frustration.
Down 3-1 and with the Blue Jackets clearing the zone as the last seconds in the game wore on, Andersson left his feet and launched himself at Patrick Laine. Now the Department of Player Safety has made an announcement; take a look.
Calgary's Rasmus Andersson will have a hearing today for Elbowing/Charging Columbus' Patrik Laine. We'll see what happens, but this definitely should be at least a couple of games at minimum.
Jumping into a hit like that is always uncalled for, but especially in the dying seconds of the game. I don't say this often, but this is definitely a good call by Player Safety. One can only hope they send a clear message after this predatory hit.
