Alexander Ovechkin entered the NHL in 2005 after being drafted 1st overall. From the moment Ovechkin entered the league he's been the best goal scorer of this generation. Ovechkin currently sits 114 goals behind Wayne Gretzky for the all-time goals scored record.
Ovechkin now 36-years-old looks like he hasn't lost a step. Last season in 77 games he scored 50 goals and 40 assists. Despite Ovechkin scoring 50 goals this past season, NHL.com Hockey Insider and Head Writer Dan Rosen made the very bold prediction that Alex Ovechkin will NEVER score 50 goals again.
That's not a bet I'd be willing to take as Ovi has scored 50 goals or more in 9 of his 17 NHL seasons. Don't be surprised to see Ovi score 50 this season just to prove Mr. Rosen wrong.
