NHL announces supplemental discipline for Taylor Hall after sucker punch
The Toronto Maple Leafs were visiting the Boston Bruins on Tuesday Night. It was chippy affair with a playoff feel to the game. The Leafs hung on to win 6-4.
In the second period, Taylor Hall retaliated for a hit from Lyubushkin that he thought was dirty. He did this by punching Lyubushkin in the face/neck area from behind.
Lyubushkin dropped to the ice immediately from having his bell rung. He left the game and didn't return. Hall was given two minutes on the play for roughing, despite the NHL rule calling for a major penalty in this situation.
The Boston broadcast certainly had Hall's back by saying «just a little grab to the right ear». Are we watching the same game?
The punishment is in for Hall. The Department of Player Safety has fined Hall the maximum allowed under the CBA $5,000.
What do you think? Is this the right punishment?
