NHL could be forced to cancel the first game of the pre-season tonight
The NHL and its teams always attempt to play as many games as possible, but every once and a while external factors force the league to alter their plans. Last season the league postponed games for both weather events and when the Nashville Predators experienced a flood arena after a pipe broke outside of the arena.
Today it appears the NHL will have to make a difficult decision on whether or not to play tonight's game between the New York Rangers and New York Islanders. The teams are currently scheduled to play at the UBS Arena tonight at 7 pm, unfortunately Brooklyn, New York is currently experiencing historical flooding.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency as the city doesn't have the resources to overcome the challenges they're facing.
Update:
The game has been posptoned.
