NHL legend Teemu Selanne is officially buys a professional hockey team
It has been announced today that NHL legend and a staple within Finnish hockey, Teemu Selanne has agreed to buy part of the Finnish hockey club Jokerit, who recently decided to drop out of the KHL.
According to Finnish news outlet IS, Selanne confirmed this when attending a tennis tournament. Jokerit, is looking to rejoin the SM-Liga the top league in Finland, although, if they rejoin the Liga it won't be for the upcoming season.
Selanne joins an ownership that also includes former NHL star Jarri Kurri. Jokerit has confirmed they won't play in any league the upcoming season, but the hope is they join a league to play in the 2023-24 season. The application for statement must be submitted no later than October 30th, 2022, but from the sounds of it both Selanne and Kurri who is the Chairman and Majority Owner of the club are confident they will play in 2023-24 in the SM-Liga
