NHL makes decision on if Evander Kane deserves a hearing for his dangerous hit
Last night Evander Kane was given a 5-minute major for his hit on Nazem Kadri. The referees on the ice felt that Kane didn't deserve to be ejected for the hit. The NHL Department of Player Safety has also been plagued by inconsistency over this season, so it likely wouldn't shock anyone if Kane didn't receive a hearing.
But today the NHL Department of Player Safety made the following statement:
Edmonton's Evander Kane will have a hearing today for Boarding Colorado's Nazem Kadri.
The hearing will be held via phone and will therefore be under 5 games. With the Oilers on the verge of elimination, losing Kane could be a major blow.
