When the Boston Bruins signed Mitchell Miller it's likely the organization didn't expect the backlash they've received. For the most part the feedback has been extremely negative, while even the players have criticized the decision by team management. So far the Bruins have remained committed to their decision to their decision.

Earlier today Gary Bettman announced that Miller was ineligible to play in the NHL and may never be eligible to play. But now the NHLPA has hired back at the Commissioner, claiming his information is incorrect.

NHLPA tells ESPN that the NHL has not informed them about any suspension to @NHLBruins Mitchell Miller or anything that would impact his eligibility. NHLPA said «there needs to be more info provided by NHL» regarding commissioner Gary Bettman's statements on Saturday.

Additionally, a source told ESPN that Mitchell Miller's contract has been registered with the NHL and that there was nothing official from the League that would have prevented the @NHLBruins or any team from signing him.

Gary Bettman has made it clear that if Miller will ever play in the NHL, that he will be the one to approve his presence. But this information seems to contradict the contract already being registered.

So the question has to be asked, is Gary Bettman just taking this stance due to the backlash or does he actually feel this way? I'm assuming like everything Bettman does, it's the former.
