National TV Broadcast falls for fake trade tweet
The NHL Trade Deadline is March 21st and teams are expected to be extremely busy. The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be buyers at the deadline, but at least one National Broadcast fell for a fake account claiming the Leafs acquired the defenseman earlier this week.
The tweet in question did a good job of replicating what an actual trade would look like. In this case even going as far as to create a realistic graphic to go along with it.
While many are aware of this sort of fake post around the deadline, it appears Bally Sports wasn't because the broadcast crew mentioned this deal on their live broadcast.
While hilarious for some, I'm sure Bally wasn't thrilled about this. But remember as the trade deadline nears keep an eye out for that blue checkmark to confirm everything is accurate.
