New Jersey acquired Vanecek and the 46th overall pick from the Washington Capitals ahead of the second day of the 2022 NHL Draft in exchange for the No. 37 and No. 70 selections.
The Czech native appeared in 42 games in 2021-22 recording a .908 save percentage and 2.67 goals against average while owning a record of 20-12-6.
Vanecek was drafted 39th overall by the Capitals in the 2014 NHL Entry draft, and has played his entire career with Washington.
