The Philadelphia Flyers had lost 10 consecutive games heading into last night's meeting with the New York Islanders. The two teams are heading in opposite directions as it appears the Flyers may finally be coming to terms with the fact that a rebuild may be their only solution, while the Islander currently sit 2nd in the Metro Division. Last night's game by all accounts was supposed to be an easy win for the Islanders.

Unfortunately for the Islanders, the Flyers came ready to play. They also came ready to prove that they weren't going to be pushed around physically. 7 seconds into the game Zach MacEwen dropped the gloves with Matt Martin for a spirited tilt. With less than 1 second ticking off the clock on the next face off Nicolas Deslauriers dropped the gloves with Ross Johnston for back-to-back heavyweight fights.

The Flyers would go onto out play the Islanders for the better part of 60 minutes, out shooting the Islanders 33-24 and winning the game by a score of 3-1. This was the Flyers first win in 11 games, and will definitely make John Tortorella happy with the way his team played.
