New York Islanders defenseman arrested for DUI
The NHL offseason is in full swing and while teams and players are preparing for next season, one player is dealing with some significant off ice issues. Sebastian Aho of the New York Islanders was stopped on August 13th and it was rwith a blood alcohol level of .32 or 3x the legal limit. The offense happened in Aho's home country of Sweden.
Aho's blood alcohol level could lead to be a bigger issue, as his alcohol level met the limit for driver's license confiscation under Swedish law. Aho issued the following statement:
I was on holiday with my family and some of our friends. One of the evenings we went out to dinner together. At 10 o'clock in the morning the next day, we were going to continue our holiday and I was then stopped in a random sample check and it was over the limit.
I deeply regret and learn from this mistake and will definitely never drive again the next day.
Aho has already pled guilty to the offense and will have his license suspended for 40 days and he has agreed to pay a fine of SEK 40,000 or $3,800 USD.
