He would have gotten away with it, too, if not for the pesky replay. Lucas Raymond of the Detroit Red Wings got very creative last night while trying to earn his team a powerplay. He definitely had the referees fooled at first.

During the Red Wings game against the New York Rangers, Will Cuylle was called for a high-stick on Raymond. It was a double minor as the stick drew blood. However, after reviewing the footage, the penalty was completely overturned as it was clear that Raymond grabbed Cuylle's stick and brought it up to his own face to get the call.

I'm not certain what Raymond did was intentional. He may have been just trying to push Cuylle's stick away. The result is the same either way. Raymond used Cuylle's stick on himself and was quite happy to take the four-minute powerplay. This is why video review is a good thing.
