A lot of rumors have been circling around the NHL about potential landing spots for Patrick Kane. Seems that it's only speculation at this point as Patrick Kane clearly isn't playing some of his best hockey right now.
On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman shared an interesting tidbit as to explain Patrick Kane's current play.
There has been a rumor that Pat Kane has been dealing with something, some kind of injury; some sort of nagging injury for some period of time. And at some point he's going to need a clean-up...I wonder if the solution is: Kane and the Blackhawks agree to a one-year extension, he shuts himself down, he goes and gets whatever procedure he needs, and he comes back next year healthy and refreshed, and we go through this again.
To have one of your franchise players injured for a long period of time certainly doesn't help both the team and the player's career. The Blackhawks were reportedly hoping to kick start their own rebuild by moving Kane, but if Kane is injured that could be a problem.
So now it comes down to, what is more important to Kane, long-term health or winning a Stanley Cup this year?
