Patrick Kane sends a message to Kyle Dubas and the Toronto Maple Leafs
When the season began Patrick Kane was expected to be the hottest piece on the trade market. Last week news broke that Kane was only interested in being a member of the New York Rangers or Toronto Maple Leafs. However, Friday night the Maple Leafs made a trade for Ryan O'Reilly and Noel Acciari.
This was the second time that Kane had watched one of the teams he hoped to play for make a significant move. Previously, the Rangers had acquired Vladimir Tarasenko, leaving Kane with one fewer option. Tonight the Chicago Blackhawks faced off against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Kane was clearly in no mood to play around. Last week against the Leafs Kane put up a disappointing performance and he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.
Tonight Kane showed up ready to play and took over the game almost immediately. Kane scored his 1st goal of the game in the 1st period before adding his 2nd and 3rd before the 11 minute mark of the 2nd period.
Kane's hat trick brought his goal total to 5 goals in the last 2 games, sending a significant message to Kyle Dubas and the Maple Leafs.
After the game Kane provided the following thoughts.
I don't think there's really, at least that I know of, much discussion of that being an option. There's a lot of different reports out there, and not all of them are true. So, gotta be careful what you listen to.
