Former NHLer turned hockey analyst, Paul Bissonnette or "Biznasty" made some bold comments during today's TNT NHL coverage. The panel was discussing the playoffs and each team's chances. During the discussion Bissonnette talked about the Eastern conference and the 8 teams that will likely fill the playoff spots. Bissonnette named the 8 teams who currently hold those spots but said only 7 of those teams were actual Cup contenders, completely dismissing the Washington Capitals.
Listen, Washington fans have been losing it on me online. Go bet your mortgages on the fact that they will even get out of the first round, send it to me in a tweet, and then we will have a conversation, Washington is not a threat, sorry.
Whether or not you agree with Bissonnette, he was serious in his assessment, believing that the Capitals have zero chance of winning the Stanley Cup. He also believes that Ovi and the Capitals won't even be making it past the first round of the playoffs.
How will the Capitals respond? The Capitals know what it takes to win a Stanley Cup, as they beat the Golden Knights in 2018.
