Philadelphia Flyers GM Daniel Briere still accepting phone calls on one of his team's best players
Daniel Briere has worked hard to change the culture surrounding the Philadelphia Flyers. The team has been a mess for years and it appears Briere finally has the permission to rebuild the team. While previous General Managers were forced to retool on the fly it appears Briere finally has the green light they've been refused.
After completing trades for Kevin Hayes and Ivan Provorov, Briere has worked to complete a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes to shed the Flyers of Tony DeAngelo. While that is a large amount of changes it appears Briere might not be done.
According to multiple reports Briere is still fielding calls about Travis Konecny. Konecny is a very popular player around the league, he not only brings scoring, but speed and physicality as well. Briere is apparently a very big fan of Konecny, but he also understand that's at 26-years-old that Konecny may not fit into the Flyers long-term plans.
If Konecny is dealt, it was be for a very large package and expected many teams to inquire. Konecny will like command a package larger than the one that Tampa Bay paid for Tanner Jeannot.
Expect talks to heat up into the month of August as teams return from their summer vacations.
