Earlier today, the Philadelphia Flyers announced that the team has placed defenceman Anthony DeAngelo on the non-roster.
With a recent Instagram post, DeAngelo spoke about the passing of his Grandmother, with whom he was very close. It seems like the Flyers will give DeAngelo some time off to grieve a death in the family.
With the Flyers at the bottom of the standings and in contention for a top draft pick this year, the team can afford to give DeAngelo all the time he needs. His contract expires at the end of next season, so his return will be expected at some point.
Our thoughts are with the DeAngelo family in mourning.
