Rift developing between Darryl Sutter and his General Manager t
Last season Darryl Sutter Lee the Calgary Flames to the Western Conference Semi-Finals. But over the summer the Flames organization was flipped on its head by the departure of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk. This caused the Flames to quickly pivot as they added Nazem Kadri, Mackenzie Weegar and Jonathan Huberdeau.
According to Frank Seravalli, this was reportedly the beginning of what has turned into a growing Rift between Darryl Sutter and Brad Treliving.
Frank Seravalli also sensing a rift between coach and GM in Calgary. Says his read on Darryl based on interviews he does is that he ultimately wants to be GM.
Love that for us 🤦🏻♂️
Since this summer Sutter has hinted on multiple occasions that the Flames roster isn't good enough to win. With a coach who wants to be a General Manager, this is essentially a shot at the man who's job he wants. With the Flames currently sitting outside a playoff spot things are only likely to get more desperate.
Sutter has continued to refuse to play the Flame's young prospects or remove players like Milan Lucic from the lineup, things that will likely come to a head very soon.
