They Los Angeles Kings have been heavily tied to Jakub Chychrun, but their lastest move has thrown some water on that fire. The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenceman Mikey Anderson to an eight-year extension worth $4.125 million per season, the team announced Wednesday.

«We're excited to have a player of Mikey Anderson's caliber signed to the Kings long-term," Kings general manager Rob Blake said, »Mikey has not only developed into a trusted, shut-down player on the ice, but a well-respected individual in the room that we envision continuing to grow into our leadership core.»

The 23 year old has scored 2 goals and 13 points in 55 games this season. Anderson has developed into a top pairing blue liner during his four years with the Kings' organization. He is averaging 21:49 in ice time this season.

A fourth-round pick of the Kings in 2017, Anderson has six goals and 33 points in 172 career games.

This move could show the Kings are moving on from the idea of Chychrun and are now focused on other options.
