Alex Ovechkin reveals the personal reason why he left the team
Yesterday, the Washington Capitals announced that Alex Ovechkin had left the team to deal with a personal family matter. Ovechkin is expected to miss at least the upcoming week. Details around his departure were limited at the time.
Today Ovechkin took to his personal Instagram account to share the heartbreaking reason he was forced to take a leave of absence.
Today lost my father ... I thank everyone for the support but please be understanding and do not disturb my family in this difficult time for us! Thank you
Losing a parent is always difficult and Ovechkin has always been open about to closeness with his father. Ovi's dad has always been his biggest fan.
