Scary situation in Columbus as player appears to suffer medical emergency
You never want to see anyone get hurt, but injuries are part of the game of hockey. Unfortunately tonight it appears Sean Kuraly suffered a serious injury. After taking a hit from Jake McCabe, Kuraly was struck in the chest with the puck.
It was obvious Kuraly was in serious pain and he even tried to convince the referee to blow the whistle but to no avail. Kuraly skated to the bench where he met a trainer. Kuraly began to walk into the team's tunnel when he slumps to the ground in what appeared to be a medical emergency.
Teammates immediately began to scream for the game to be halted and for medical assistance to come to the bench. A paramedic slowly made his way across the ice as referees attempted to deal with both teams.
The referees made the decision to end the period early sending both teams to the locker room. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kuraly as we hope he is okay.
Update
According to the Blue Jackets the response was entirely precautionary
