There was really high expectations for Vegas when the season kicked off. Then there was the Eichel trade in November that had fans planning for a long playoff run come spring.

Things have come off the rails since with the Golden Knights currently on a 4 game losing streak after last nights defeat against the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-4. They are currently hanging onto the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference by 1 point. Vegas has 68 points, Dallas 67 with 4 games in hand, and Vancouver 65 with one game in hand on Vegas.

Stephenson was quoted after the game:

«I'm sick of it. Everybody is sick of it. Everybody needs to dig deeper, grab their nuts and work».

Injuries have plagued the Golden Knights this season. Their captain Mark Stone has played only 28 games and is on LTIR with a back injury. Max Pacioretty has played 29 games and did not play against Columbus. He left Saturday's game against Pittsburgh during the 2nd period.

The injury list continues with their starting goalie Robin Lehner who is out with a lower-body injury. When he has played it has been nowhere near his form from last year. He sports a 2.77 GAA and .909 save percentage.

The Golden Knights will need to get it together, especially with the Vancouver Canucks nipping at their heels, or they risk missing out on the playoffs for the first time in their existence.
