After a busy morning which led into the early afternoon, Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving spoke frankly with members of the media regarding the acquisition of Tyler Toffoli:
As for the timing of today's trade, Treliving said that the Flames didn't want any other team to be able to nab Toffoli at or ahead of the trade deadline:
Toffoli is under contract through the 2023-2024 season for a team-friendly average annual value of $4.25M. He should certainly help his new team with some much-needed secondary scoring.
Calgary is currently second in Pacific Division standings, one point behind the Vegas Golden Knights, with three games in hand.
