The Vancouver Canucks and Captain Bo Horvat release joint statement; it appears they're headed in separate directions
The Vancouver Canucks season has been terrible and underwhelming for fans and the team alike, and to add salt to the wound the Canucks Captain Bo Horvat has received and rejected the team's final offer.
Horvat has since released a statement through the team which sounds like the Captain has checked out for the season, he's most likely done in Vancouver:
«I am focused on this season and playing for the Vancouver Canucks, helping the team in any way I can. I will not have any further comments this year about my future.»
Horvat who has been an offensive force on a subpar team and has 20 goals in 28 games will be an unrestricted free agent soon.
There are no doubt plenty of teams in the NHL who could make the money work and have the proper assets to acquire the centre. It's been clear since the off-season how the Front Office didn't value Horvat compared to other assets on the team.
Now they will pay in other ways, four points out of a playoff spot and 6th in the Pacific, it seems like Jim Benning's ghost is still hanging around the team.
