Sunday night the San Jose Sharks travel to play the Vegas Golden Knights in a crucial game to keep Vegas' playoff hopes alive. It will be the final matchup of the two teams this season. The Sharks and Golden Knights have had a natural rivalry since Vegas' expansion into the NHL, and tonight will add another chapter.
In Vegas' first season in the NHL in 2017-18, they eliminated the San Jose Sharks in the second round of the playoffs. San Jose returned the favour by knocking Vegas out in the first round the following year. Pete DeBoer was the head coach in San Jose during those playoff series. After being fired by the Sharks, DeBoer was immediately hired to be the head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights. All of this makes for a great young rivalry.
Timo Meier has been with the Sharks his whole career and can't wait to play spoiler.
The biggest game of the year
The Sharks plan on using all of their energy to spoil the Golden Knights playoff hopes. Should be a fun one Sunday night.
