Some very tough news for the top defensive prospect in the next NHL draft. He's out of the World Juniors after an awkward fall in the opening game.

Adam Jiricek got tangled up with an opponent near the boards yesterday and fell. It was clear he hurt his right leg on the play as he was barely able to put any weight on it.

It has now been announced that Jiricek is out for the entire World Junior tournament, and tough blow for him and for Czechia.

"Adam Jiricek is done for the World Juniors after an awkward fall in yesterday's opener. Tomas Galvas has been activated from their injured reserve roster in Sweden. #2024NHLDraft"

Adam is the brother of David Jiricek, the 6th overall pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2022. Adam has been consistently ranked as one of the top, if not the top defenceman in next year's draft.
