Top trade candidate reportedly refuses to waive his no movement clause for the Maple Leafs
Kyle Dubas and the Toronto Maple Leafs are constantly working to try and improve their team. With reports that Dubas is managing this season to save his job in Toronto, it's imperative that the Leafs look at every option. One of the most prominent options for the Leafs and many other teams would be Patrick Kane.
Kane is currently entering the final year of his contract with the Blackhawks. His current deal pays him $10,500,000 per season and would require some clever maneuvering for any team to fit him under their cap. But it sounds like that won't be an issue for the Maple Leafs.
According to The Mug, Kevin Weekes is reporting that Kane has informed General Manager, Kyle Davidson that he's unwilling to waive his no movement clause for the Maple Leafs.
This choice of Kane's could obviously change if the Maple Leafs have a strong start. But it appears currently that he's got his mind set on other teams as options at this time. It will be interesting to see how this develops, but the Leafs will likely shift their focus to other trade candidates if this is true.
