The Toronto Maple Leafs have already battled through multiple injuries this season. With multiple players already on injured reserve the Maple Leafs received the worst possible news on Saturday night.

During the Maple Leafs game versus the Boston Bruins, starting goaltender Ilya Samsonov has suffered an injury to his left knee. The injury appears to have occured on a penalty shot by Brad Marchand during the second period. After Marchand makes an incredible move, it appears Samsonov tweaks his knee as he tries to make a play on the second effort.

The Maple Leafs confirmed to start the 3rd period that Samsonov's night was over.

Maple Leafs 4th strong goaltender Erik Kallgren entered the game as a replacement. The bigger issue for the Maple Leafs is if Samsonov is going to miss time the team is out of options. With Matt Murray and Joseph Woll both injured, the only other goalie under contract for the Maple Leafs is last year's 4th round pick Dennis Hildeby.

But Hildeby, 21, is currently loaned to Farjestads of the Swedish league. This leaves the Maple Leafs with the options of either signing another goalie or opting to use an emergency backup goalie. The Leafs next game is tomorrow night against the Carolina Hurricanes, so they will have to make a decision quickly.
