Toronto Maple Leafs prospect most recent health update is extremely concerning
Rodion Amirov was expected to return to on ice action this fall, but that has postponed indefinitely. After joining the Maple Leafs for some off ice work in October, Amirov returned home to Europe. Unfortunately upon returning it was announced that his cancer had returned.
Little information was initially provided about Amirov's condition, but now the Director of Amirov's KHL club Salvat UFA has provided information.
With Rodion, the issue is more complicated. He is going through a difficult period of treatment. Then there will be another treatment for three weeks. I can't say when he will return. The situation is serious. He really wants to return. We are in touch with him." Bashirov said.
It's becoming clear that unfortunately Amirov isn't in the clear health wise. With hockey now on the backburner it now pivots to concern about his long-term health instead of his future as a hockey player.
Our thoughts and prayers go out Amirov as he continued this battle.
