The Toronto Maple Leafs, after having a rocky start to the season, havd been unstoppable as of late, in no small part due to the new found stability of their bottom 6. Of course with that stability, the Toronto media had to find something to talk about.

On The Fan 590 today, there was a legitimate segment put on air about the risk of a possible offer sheet coming this summer, for 23 year old, Pontus Holmberg. Holmberg has only played all of 15 NHL games, but Nick Kypreos feels the restricted free agent is a potential offer sheet candidate.

On Fan 590 today, there was honest to goodness discussion time devoted to the possibility that a team could offer sheet Toronto's Pontus Holmberg. Holmberg, a 23-year-old former sixth rounder, has played 15 NHL games. There have been two signed offer sheets in the last ten years.

Holmberg has been a very impressive part of the Leafs 4th line, but, at a time when there's not a lot to criticize about their play, leave it to a Toronto media outlet to try and drum up a controversy out of thin air. Holmberg in those 15 games of NHL experience has 7 points including 2 goals and 5 assists.

It's clearly the media's job to drum up interest, but have the Leafs really got to the point where the media is grasping for straws? Offer sheets in the league are so rare and the idea that a former NHL in Nick Kypreos could think this is a possibility just shows how out of touch he is.
