Tyler Myers' delivered a game changing hit to the head of Evgeni Kuznetsov in Friday nights game in Vancouver against the Washington Capitals. Kuznetsov was down on the ice for some time and slow to get up. The end result was Kuznetsov getting his hat trick goal on the subsequent power play and eventual win for the Capitals thanks to Lars Eller scoring in overtime.

Boudreau was quoted after the game:

He's just a big guy. And I would have to say if you know Kuznetsov there was a bit of embellishment there by staying down on the ice but he couldn't wait to get back on the power play. It wasn't like he was hurt. Tyler was big. It wasn't like he skated into him. He sort of glided into him. He's a big man. Sometimes it doesn't help.

The video below has a great breakdown of the play. Myers beats Kuznetsov to a loose puck, he turns to make contact with him and explodes into the hit clearly making contact to the head.

Myers is beginning to have a reputation for these type of borderline hits. Size will always be one of the first defenses for the 6 foot 8 Myers. He delivered a borderline hit on Trevor Lewis in the January 29th game against the Flames. The Canucks ended up losing that game 1 - 0 in overtime.

He looks to have escaped punishment again as there are no reports that Department of Player Safety want to reach out to him. Myers was last suspended three games while with the Buffalo Sabres for a hit from behind on Canadiens forward Scott Gomez back in Jan, 21, 2016.
