Tonight's matchup between the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins proved to be an eventful one right off the bat. In the first period with the Sabres already down two goals, Thompson skated in looking to tie the game but was tripped by a Bruins defender, and fell awkwardly to the ice. Thompson has yet to return to the game and is listed as questionable to return .
Soon after, on a draw in the neutral zone, the two teams broke out in a brawl with the Sabres exacting revenge for injuring Thompson. The Sabres threw some big hits, then Cozens went after Pastrnak and threw him to the ice, ripping off his helmet.
Still only in the first period with tensions this high, it's possible that this game could devolve into a grudge match between these two teams.
Update: Thompson has since returned.
