Vegas Golden Knights forward narrowly avoids a game misconduct on questionable hit after review

Tonight, the Vegas Golden Knights are visiting the New Jersey Devils and the Knights just missed having to play the rest of the game short handed as a forward was almost kicked out of the game.

Vegas Golden Knights forward Brett Howden lays a questionable hit on Devils rookie Simon Nemec in which he appears to leave his feet and make contact with the head; take a look.

Howden knows Nemec is in a vulnerable position, comes at him from behind and knows it's a hit that you just cannot make. Fortunately for him, the play was reviewed after being called a 5 minute major and downgraded to a minor penalty.

Brett Howden was initially called for a major, but after review they reduced it to a minor.

NJ is given a matching minor, 4-on-4 hockey.

Very lucky for Vegas. That hit looked late and high to me, but Howden's elbow might've hit Nemek's neck/shoulders, rather than his head.

Even though it was reduced to a minor you'd have to think that the Department of Player Safety would at least look at this. We'll see.
