The Vegas Golden Knights are coming off their first Stanley Cup win in franchise history and following it up with a team good enough to do it again, but just like most other teams that are competitive these days, they're up against the cap, and with that means trying to move on from players you don't really want to let go.

According to Ken Boehlke of Sin Bin Vegas, the Golden Knights may have to include veteran defender Alec Martinez in a deal to dee up some cap space; take a look.

Martinez, 36, is a veteran of 15 NHL seasons skating in well over 700 games who has 2 Stanley Cups to his name. He's skated in just 20 games this year though and only has 5 points to show for it including 4 goals and 1 assist.

Martinez seems to still have a little bit left in the tank and adding him into a deal as a sweetener is never a bad idea. At this point in his career though, that's exactly what he will be.

We'll see where this goes, but I would not be surprised if Alec Martinez's days in a Vegas Golden Knight uniform are numbered, especially considering he's in the last year of his contract that sees him getting paid 5.25M a season.
