Video captures player two hand slashing opponent in the head during minor hockey game
Whether you played organized sports as a kid and especially organized hockey one of the first things that your coaching staff tried to develop and instill in you was to respect your opponent no matter the circumstances or situation and that it followed a code as you got older and moved onto other teams.
This lesson wasn't always taught well and in other cases the child didn't always understand the lesson and it appears from the video below that the lesson of respect others, fell on deaf ears.
The video shows the larger kid in black and gold pushing the small child in black, white and red then skating away. As the larger kid skates away, the smaller one two hands his counterpart across the head, grazing his cage. After this happens the larger kid pops his aggressor in the face with a right hand, causing the smaller kid to fall.
Many people will argue that respect should be earned and not given, but in the case of minor sports where a child should be learning life lessons while having fun along the way, serious consequences should be levied to both children, while in the presence of their parents.
While hockey is a physical sport, the actions of both children are unnecessary and unwarranted. Hopefully those in charge can take appropriate action and determine the right way to teach them both a lesson.
