Zach Hyman lands big hit on Quinton Byfield, setting the tone for a physical game
Edmonton forward Zach Hyman had an open ice hit on young forward Quinton Byfield in last night's loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Byfield is one of the Kings best prospects and he's still learning to be an NHL regular. In last night's game Byfield learned he needs to keep his head up and not focus entirely on the puck. That is what happened last night and Byfield found himself lying on the ice. Forward Zach Hyman, not known for his hitting, caught Byfield with his head down and jolted him with a solid legal body check. Checkout the replay below.
This year, we've seen young players learn some valuable lessons in the NHL this year. Quinton Byfield luckily was not severely hurt on this play, although he did get up slowly. Byfield will learn from this experience moving forward and recall that he could be hit at any moment by any player in the NHL. These are often the lessons young players learn early in their careers.
